MoonlightJob support

MoonlightJob helps hourly workers decide whether a shift at a nearby game, concert or show is worth more than the shift they already have. It shows what each job would leave you per hour after travel time and your costs, and when nobody publishes the pay, what you'd need to make for it to be worth it.

Moonlight doesn't hire anyone or take a cut. The employer (a venue, a caterer, a staffing app, or an organizer who posted their event in Moonlight) decides who works.

What the app covers

Report a post

Events posted by local organizers carry a Report this post button (on the event's "…" in Events, and on its shift). Every report reaches us straight away, and we look at every one within 24 hours. A post two people report is hidden from everyone until we have. You can also hide everything an organizer posts, on your phone only. To reach us about a post directly, email the address above with the organizer's name and the event.

Delete your data

Everything Moonlight knows about you as a worker is on your phone. To wipe it: Me (called Profile before version 1.1) → What we do with your data → Delete everything. Moonlight's server keeps nothing tied to a worker, so there is nothing to ask us to delete there. A backup you exported is wherever you sent it.

If you post events: Settings → Delete my organizer profile takes every event you posted down and deletes your details from Moonlight's server.

The full details are in the privacy policy.

Common questions

I don't see any events

If nothing is scheduled within your search radius this week, the Events tab says so. Raise it under Me → Getting around → Search radius. If the app says "Events are unavailable right now", it couldn't reach its events server; pull down on the list to try again.

Why is there no pay for driving?

Rideshare companies don't publish what drivers earn, and Moonlight never guesses. It shows what you'd need to make per hour for the drive to be worth it. Log what you actually made after a night (Me → Log a night you worked), and next time it uses your own numbers.

Where does "typical pay" come from?

From the US Bureau of Labor Statistics wage survey for your metro area or state, or the local minimum wage where that is higher. It's typical pay, marked as an estimate, not an offer: call the venue to find out what it pays.

I'm outside the US

Moonlight covers the 50 states and DC. With your location on outside them, it says so and looks nothing up. To look around a US city, turn Location off for Moonlight in the iPhone's Settings, then set a US city or ZIP under Me.

I'd rather not share my location

You don't have to. Type a US city or ZIP during setup or under Me → Where you are, and every screen works from that place. Location is used only while the app is open, never in the background.

The app says it's for adults and won't open

Where the law asks apps to check age, the iPhone asks whether to share your age range with Moonlight. The app opens once Apple confirms you're 18 or over. Tap "Try again" if you declined by mistake. Moonlight never stores your age.

Moonlight crashed

Open Me → Diagnostics and share the diagnostics file with us by email. It holds the app and iOS versions, the iPhone model, the crash reports and the app's own log lines, never your location or what you earned.

I got a new phone

Before you switch, use Me → Back up my data and keep the file. On the new phone, Me → Restore from a backup. Your logged nights are the one thing Moonlight can't fetch again.

For organizers

How do I post an event?

Open Moonlight and choose "I run events or need staff" ("I run events" before version 1.1). Already set up as a worker? Me → Post events you run. Give your organization's name and a way for workers to reach you, agree to the posting rules, then tap Post an event: what, where, when, the crowd you expect, and whether you need staff, with the pay per hour.

Why isn't my event showing to workers yet?

We check every new organizer before their events go public, usually within a day. Your events show as "Waiting for approval" until then, and go up by themselves once you're approved. Changing your organization's name asks for the same quick check again.

The posting rules

Posts that break the rules come down, and a profile that keeps breaking them is suspended.

Where the numbers come from

Typical pay: US Bureau of Labor Statistics

Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics, May 2025, published May 15, 2026, retrieved September 25, 2026. Hourly medians for ushers, concession workers, security guards, cleanup and parking attendants, by metro area or state.

BLS.gov cannot vouch for the data or analyses derived from these data after the data have been retrieved from BLS.gov.

Busy driving hours: City of Chicago

Transportation Network Providers trips, data.cityofchicago.org, averaged by hour by Moonlight.

This site provides applications using data that has been modified for use from its original source, www.cityofchicago.org, the official website of the City of Chicago. The City of Chicago makes no claims as to the content, accuracy, timeliness, or completeness of any of the data provided at this site. The data provided at this site is subject to change at any time. It is understood that the data provided at this site is being used at one’s own risk.

Gas prices: US Energy Information Administration

Source: U.S. Energy Information Administration (Weekly Retail Gasoline and Diesel Prices, 2026). The app names the week each price is from.

Which metro you're in: Census Bureau, BLS and USGS

US Census Bureau, Vintage 2024 metropolitan area population estimates (the July 2023 metro delineation) and 2024 Gazetteer files; the BLS list of wage-survey areas; and the US Geological Survey's Geographic Names Information System for each principal city's map point.

Weather: Apple Weather

Weather and hourly forecasts from Apple Weather. Other data sources. Moonlight uses the forecast to add a rain allowance to driving time, so that allowance is Moonlight's use of Apple's data, not Apple's figure.

Events: Ticketmaster

Games, concerts and shows from the Ticketmaster Discovery API, fetched by Moonlight's own server. Where a league publishes an average crowd, the app shows it and names the league; otherwise it says "size n/a".

Local events: the people who run them

Events posted in Moonlight by their organizers, labelled "Posted by" with the organizer's name. Their crowd is the organizer's estimate, and their pay is the organizer's posted rate, shown as theirs.

Maps, venues and travel times: Apple Maps

Where venues are, their phone numbers and websites, drive and transit times, and the next ride home by transit.
